AustSwim and Royal Life Saving Society are urging parents whose children have undertaken swimming lessons to share their experiences in a new survey before May 17. The survey will enhance their understanding of Swimming and Water Safety programs for children aged 5-14 years old.

A main focus of the survey will be the accessibility, affordability and effectiveness of swimming and water safety programs for children aged 5-14. The survey will also determine just how well children develop their swimming and water safety skills.

Parents will also have the opportunity to comment on factors affecting their choice of swim school and instructor such as the reputation of their chosen swim school, the effectiveness and accreditation of the teachers, and what understanding and expectations they had of the skills being taught to their children.

Each parent’s comments will contribute to research being conducted on drowning prevention in Australia. The outcomes of which are set to enhance the swimming and water safety skills of all Australian children.

All information will be treated in the strictest confidence and no identification of individual respondents will be made available.

The survey will be open until 5pm Friday, 17 May 2013 and can be accessed via:

Participants who complete the survey will go into the draw to win a double Hoyts movie pass or an Uncle Toby’s hamper worth $100. There are 50 double passes and 2 hampers up for grabs.

If you have any questions or need further information, please contact Amy Peden at Royal Life Saving .
