Brendan Watkins resigns as SPASA Victoria CEO
The longest standing state-based SPASA CEO, Brendan Watkins, has resigned. He had marshalled the Victorian organisation since 2006.
“Brendan has been with SPASA Victoria for the past twelve years and has done an outstanding job of guiding and growing the association under his leadership,” says SPASA Victoria President Cliff Cooke.
“During this time, he has been instrumental in making many significant industry achievements which are a direct result of his professionalism and commitment in his role.
“Brendan has decided to pursue other career opportunities and we wish him every success and thank him for his many years of valuable service,” he says.
Watkins has agreed to stay with the association until a new CEO is appointed and an appropriate handover has been completed.
Once the handover is completed Watkins plans his first long family holiday in 12 years, and will be taking advantage of some opportunities outside the industry.
Watkins has nominated the highlights of his long pool and spa industry career as doubling the association revenue and profitability, increasing member satisfaction and maintaining a 95 per cent member retention rate, overcoming some challenging years during the drought, building successful consumer events and magazines, creating a popular training program and organising huge annual gala dinners.
