Celebration of Mick Toohey’s life

Sadly, pool and spa industry veteran Mick Toohey has passed away. His life will be celebrated South Oakleigh Bowling Club, Victoria, on Sunday 9 March, starting at 12.30pm with refreshments to follow.
Michael Peter Toohey started in the pool industry as a service technician for Quipmaster Filtrite, a division of Clark Rubber, back in the early 1980s.
His career in the swimming pool and spa industry spanned his whole life. He held various positions with a number of prominent businesses such as McAskell Nominees, Poolstore International, Bells Pool Service, Barracuda, Bio Lab, Raypak, Endless Spas, Lazaway Pools and others before diving into the swimming pool construction sector in his later years.
Predominantly based in Victoria, Mick had a stint in NSW representing Raypak, eventually ending up back in his home state. His experience was widespread in the swimming pool and spa industry including technical service, pool plumbing, wholesale and retail sales, and later received his pool builders licence that enabled him to turn his hand to swimming pool construction.
For the last six years he was managing director of Apex Pools, Spas and Plumbing in Clarinda, Victoria.
He never shied away from challenges and his dry sense of humour endeared him to the many people he came into contact with.
The planting of a tree along with Mick’s ashes and the unveiling of a memorial plaque at the bowling club will also occur on the day.
There is plenty of parking available onsite – two entry points off North Road, on the Eastern and Western ends of the bowling club located at 1216 North Road, Oakleigh South.
SPLASH! offers sincere condolences to all family, friends and colleagues.
