Danish water expert to fly in for pool seminars

Danish water expert Dr Ole Gronborg, a world leader in the design of heated indoor pools, will be presenting “Reducing Trihalomethanes and Chloramines in Pools” in Brisbane and Sydney during August. 

Swim Australia, The Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association’s (ASCTA) national learn-to-swim division will host the Better Water Seminar Series. The seminars will focus on tried and tested new, cost-effective technologies that significantly improve water quality in pools with high bather loads and/or high temperatures and also how to improve the quality of the air in the pool halls. There also be tips to help small facilities maximise results.

 

The first seminar will be based around Westside Swimming in Brisbane and will include a visit to the post-flood refurbished plant room on Wednesday August 10. This Swim School, one of Swim Australia’s National Testing Centres, has successfully trialled the applications since October 2010. The 2011 ALFA Queensland Conference will follow on the Thursday 11 and Friday 12 August at the Logan Entertainment Centre. 

The Sydney Better Water Seminar will be held on Monday August 15, 2011 at the Sydney Olympic Park Golf Centre at 1 Olympic Boulevard. 

The Sydney program will be:

9:00 am Registration 

9:30 am Reducing Chloramines and THMS in Indoor Swimming Pools.  Dr Ole Gronberg, Denmark

10:15 am The Role of Ozone as a Secondary Disinfection System.  David Brauer, Ozone Swim

10:45 am Refreshment break and networking.

11:15 am Using CO2 as an agent for pH reduction. BOC.

11:45 am Blue I controllers and their IT facilities. Phil Krasnostein, Nubian Water

12.15 pm Energy Efficient Pumps. Terry Day, Stelthpump.

12:45 pm Aquatic Centre – visit to spa plant room in small groups while lunch is served at the Golf Centre 

2.00 pm Neil Shaw – the new Public Swimming Pool and Spa Pool Code of Practice (final draft) and legislation linked to it.

2.30  Q&A Session:  Alan Lewis, Aquazure with presenters.
