Maytronics brings Poseidon to Australia

March 29th, 2012

Maytronics Australia has announced the launch of Poseidon Australia.

This new division within Maytronics brings the global leader in early warning drowning protection systems to the Australian market. A key element of this announcement is the appointment of Troy Green as Poseidon-focused Business Manager. Green commenced in March and takes up the national responsibility for Poseidon’s continued rollout into the market place.

Designed in France in 1995 the state of the art detection system now plays a vital role in the prevention of drowning and is installed in over 200 locations with more than 20 recorded savings worldwide attributable to Poseidon combined with the work of lifeguards.

Poseidon is an intelligent system that uses proprietary computer vision technology to help provide constant surveillance of the pool and monitor the trajectories of swimmers.

The system analyses activity in the pool captured by a network of cameras mounted both above and below the surface. If a swimmer is motionless or in trouble beneath the surface, within as little as 10 seconds, the system will alert lifeguards via a pager or LED display panel. Real-time video images of the incident and its location are displayed (and recorded) immediately on a supervision workstation.

The system was not designed to replace lifeguards. It was created with the express purpose of assisting them to save lives.

Poseidon Australia’s goal is to continue to work with organisations and Aquatic Centre operators across Australia in the promotion and awareness of technology developments to assist the safest possible environment for all those who enjoy the water.

For more information call Troy Green on 0408 360 292 or email troy.green@maytronics.com.
