New Qld pool and spa licences
October 20th, 2010
The Queensland Building Services Authority (QBSA) has a number of changes to licensing and regulations. Late last year, the QBSA introduced three additional license classes for Swimming Pool Construction, Installation, Maintenance and Accessories.
This was sparked by SPASA’s development of the AQF Certificate III (Trade Qualification), which provides the Skill Qualification pathway to these licenses. In addition, QBSA has introduced a requirement that any person employed to supervise building work must hold a QBSA license for the class of work being supervised, either as a contractor or as a site supervisor. These changes only apply to Queensland at this stage. The National Swimming Pool Institute (NSPI) has all of the skill training and assessing processes in place to assist individuals in becoming qualified for a license.
The three new grades of licences that relate to the swimming pool and spa industry are Contractor, Nominee Supervisor and Site Supervisor. For a full list of specific licenses and their requirements, click here.
