New waterpark takes flight
The Evergreen Wings & Waves Waterpark has opened in McMinnville, Oregon in the USA. It is billed as an “educational waterpark” with ten waterslides and a wave pool, as well as a children’s museum dedicated to teaching students about the power of water.
The incredible focal point of this aviation-themed waterpark is a real Boeing 747 which has been turned into a ride containing four waterslides. The inner-tube and body waterslides descend from the plane’s rear exit doors, bracing guests for exhilarating nose-dives of their own. One of these sensational waterslides even spirals guests with full-throttle centrifugal force into a SuperBowl, before making a final descent into a shutdown lane.
Inside the waterpark’s 6000 square metre indoor facility, guests will also discover an evergreen forest-themed AquaPlay AP1050 structure, featuring another unique customisation: an almost-life-size helicopter at 65 percent to scale. This helicopter dumps tons of water down from a huge tipping bucket, soaking guests of all ages.
Whatsmore, the museum complex includes the original Spruce Goose – the first Hercules transport plane and the largest flying boat ever, designed and built by Howard Hughes in 1947. It is also home to more than 200 aircraft and exhibits including military aircraft, helicopters, commercial and private aircraft, and an entire building dedicated to space flight.
