New Zealand gains Swimming Pool & Spa Service Certification
In a first for the industry in New Zealand, students can now access an industry-led certified program delivered by SPASA’s training subsidiary, the Institute of Research and Learning (IRL).
SPASA New Zealand’s GM, Jonty Mills says this exciting development for the New Zealand pool and spa industry is the culmination of several years’ work by many people.
“The industry has been waiting patiently to provide career pathways for its employees and this will help immensely in attracting and retaining good young people.”
The Certificate in Swimming Pool & Spa Service has been designed to provide students with a tertiary level education. It gives students a solid foundation in what is required to work in the swimming pool and spa service sector and comprises 18 Units of Competency delivered in five Clusters.
“The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) has evaluated the Certificate in Swimming Pool & Spa Service (Micro-credential) delivered by the Institute of Research and Learning (IRLearning) and has assessed it to be equivalent to Level 4 on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF),” says Spiros Dassakis, CEO of IRLearning.
The certified program is available online with easy access to resources that allow learning to be undertaken in students’ own time, pace and space.
Information session
SPASA New Zealand and IRLearning are holding an information session that is designed to provide interested participants with an understanding of the new pool and spa service certified program.
