Piscine SPLASH! Asia moves to Marina Bay Sands
It’s a sight that excites millions of tourists who venture to Singapore each year: the towering SkyPark pool straddling the three towers of Marina Bay Sands. And now, the iconic hotel and exhibition centre will be the home of Piscine SPLASH! Asia, to be held on May 20 to 21, 2013.
A change of venue was necessitated after the original venue – Singapore Suntec Centre – had fallen behind in the schedule for their renovations, and would not have been ready for the May 2013 dates. This was unfortunate considering the major refurbishment and renovation had been initiated in May 2012, but luckily an ideal venue was quickly found in the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre.
The advantages of shifting to Marina Bay Sands include the venue’s iconic status – especially in the swimming pool industry – and the fact that the dates did not have to be changed. Also, since it is very close to the original location, accommodation bookings and other plans will not need to be altered.
“The Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre is an impressive exhibition venue with state-of-the-art conference facilities, an iconic pool and spectacular entertainment facilities, facing Marina Bay in central Singapore,” says Simon Cooper, Managing Director of Interpoint Events.
“The exhibition hall will accommodate all exhibitors, including national groups from the UK, Germany, Spain and Italy.”
The exhibition, conference and workshops program will all take place in Marina Bay Sands. The breakfast and social networking will be staged as originally planned.
Cooper says Interpoint Events, together with European partner GL Events, remains on course to stage Asia’s largest dedicated pool and spa trade show.
“We are committed to stage a highly successful event in May. Moving a venue at this time presents some unique challenges. However, we are relieved that, despite the last minute change forced upon us by these extraordinary circumstances, we have been able to secure superb facilities in central Singapore for the same dates as originally announced. This means that participants will be able to conduct their business as usual, retaining their original hotel and flight arrangements.”
Noémi Petit, Show Manager of GL Events, is positive about the change. “It offers exhibitors and visitors an unexpected opportunity to associate their brands and activities with a high quality venue in Singapore which is also internationally recognised for excellence in swimming pool design,” she says.
