Pool in art: pop goes the easel

From November 1 to March 1, the Art Gallery of NSW is exhibiting the most comprehensive selection of pop art ever seen in Australia.

It features 200 works (many never seen here before) by more than 70 of pop’s greatest artists. And for the first time, Australian pop artists will be presented alongside their peers from America, Britain and Europe.

Featured artists include Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Jeff Koons, Brett Whiteley, Martin Sharp and David Hockney, whose fondness for swimming pools is seen here in his Portrait of an Artist.
