Pool numbers rise for fifth month in a row
For the fifth straight month, swimming pool development application (DA) numbers have risen compared to the same month in the previous year.
In total, looking at the past five months, the pool numbers have increased by eight per cent.
For June, Western Australia proved to have the greatest number of DAs of any of the states, claiming a 30 per cent share of the national market, followed by New South Wales with 28 per cent and Victoria with 20 per cent.
Queensland showed an increase of 19 per cent over the previous June, the largest increase of any state.
There will be more information and data in the next printed issue of SPLASH!
These figures give a valuable indication of the way the market is trending. However, they are not comprehensive and don’t include all pools built or even all DAs lodged. For example, they do not include pool projects that are approved as part of a new home, smaller projects under the cost threshold, or renovations that don’t require a DA. Also, not all councils are forthcoming with data; councils in some states such as Queensland and Victoria are particularly reluctant.
