Queensland Building and Construction Commissioner Steve Griffin resigns
Steve Griffin, the Queensland Building and Construction Commissioner (QBCC) has resigned. The QBCC administers building licenses in Queensland.
Griffin had maintained an inclusive relationship with SPASA in Queensland, achieved many reforms and turned the QBCC into a respected regulatory service provider.
He say his decision to resign, at a time when there is still much to do, weighed heavily on him.
“However, I need to balance this against the needs of my family, which requires me to return to Sydney,” he says.
The QBCC Board has commenced recruitment action to find a replacement and in the meantime Kellie Lowe has been appointed to act in the position of Commissioner until the selection process is completed.
SPASA Queensland president Andrew Jakovac thanked Mr Griffin for his service and how he has interacted with industry since his appointment, pointing out the attention he paid to the industry, the inclusiveness he offered SPASA, the respect he extended personally and also the positive and efficient commercial style he brought to the commission.
