SPASA NSW becomes RTO

SPASA NSW gained official Registered Training Organisation (RTO) status in July, following comprehensive preparation to ensure compliance.

General Manager Spiros Dassakis says that becoming an RTO is a coup for SPASA NSW and is a vital step in the overall professionalisation of the industry.

"SPASA NSW has run training courses for more than 10 years,” he says. “Achieving RTO status means we are now able to offer nationally-recognised competency certificates to trainees participating in our courses. It’s great news for retailers, pool shops, service technicians and, of course, pool builders across the domestic and commercial arena.

“Not only does it help enhance skills, it also provides peace of mind for consumers that they are dealing with well-trained professionals.”

SPASA’s current courses cover areas such as service and maintenance, safety, water treatment and chemistry, hydraulics and filtration, heating, lighting and cleaning.

“The current Technicians Course falls within our scope of registration, as will future SPASA-developed courses and suitable public courses,” he says. “And we are currently well advanced in adding further courses to our scope of registration, including a Certificate III course in pool and spa construction.”
