SR Smith bulks up with purchase of Queensland fibreglass swimwall company AFP
SR Smith has acquired the assets including the intellectual property of Queensland company All Fibreglass Products Pty Ltd (AFP), a world leader in the design and manufacture of swimming pool bulkheads and swimwalls for the commercial aquatics industry.
The new business will be operated by subsidiary SRS Australia Pty Ltd and will bolster SR Smith’s growing position in the Australian commercial swimming pool industry.
“We are excited about this acquisition as it adds strategic value to the Anti Wave Australia business we acquired in 2013 by expanding our commercial product offerings,” says Rich Laitta, CEO and President of SR Smith. “In addition, it is in line with our global product platform direction, and allows us to offer these products outside of Australia.”
Keith Hall, General Manager of SRS Australia says that bulkheads and swimwalls are a very effective means of increasing the use of the pool by optimising the total pool area.
“They can be installed in both new and existing pools, and provide commercial pool operators with significant revenue expansion opportunities by providing multiple operational zones within a single commercial swimming pool,” Hall says.
Founded in 1932, SR Smith is headquartered in Canby, Oregon, USA, with the Australian business headquartered in Richlands, Queensland. AFP was established in 1984 in Queensland, Australia.
