Swimming Australia launches disability DVD
Swimming Australia has launched a new DVD aimed at building a greater awareness of swimming among people with disability.
The Swimming for People with Disability DVD is designed to showcase the benefits and opportunities in the sport for people with disability and encourage participation.
The development of the Swimming for People with Disability DVD is a result of Swimming Australia’s partnership with the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) made possible through Sports CONNECT.
Paralympic and Commonwealth Games multiple gold medallist Matthew Cowdrey stars in the DVD and is excited about its potential to promote the sport even further.
“Being involved in swimming has helped make me who I am today and this resource will help spread the word about the potential there is for people of all abilities to participate and achieve their personal best,” said Cowdrey.
For Swimming Australia, inclusion is about establishing a best practice approach and making inclusion simply part of the pathway from participation to elite performance, with this DVD Swimming Australia hopes to send that message directly to people with disability.
More than 3000 copies of the 12 minute Swimming for People with Disability DVD have been distributed around the country to State Swimming Associations, Disability Sport Organisations and Disability Sector Organisation.
