Swimming NZ helps aspiring coaches
October 20th, 2010
Swimming New Zealand has developed an online module to get new swim coaches on the road to success.
It is designed for beginner coaches who are interested in coaching junior competitive swimmers, but there are sections which will relate to all levels of coaching. You can complete the module at your own pace, at no cost, and request further assistance.
Swimming New Zealand says that coaching is about sharing your knowledge and experience as well as making the sport fun and allowing your athletes to experience the joy of swimming to their potential.
This module contains tips on the following topics:
• Your role as a coach in meeting the needs of your swimmers;
• Being inclusive and fair;
• Communication;
• Games for understanding;
• Running a coaching session;
• Planning.
Go to the Swimming New Zealand site to start the module.
