The much anticipated opening of Wet ‘n’Wild Sydney created a buzz in Western Sydney.

Village Roadshow (VRL) says that the theme park opening brought 34,406 admission on the first weekend (Thursday to Sunday), bringing the total for the first week (including preview days) to 65,000 people.

There were also downsides to the excitement with long queues that required the gates to be opened early to ease the burden, while the website crashed under the strain of consumer demand.

More than 155,000 season passes have been sold, ranging in price from $125 for Gold to $100 for Silver.

“We couldn’t have got off to a better start both in terms of ticket sales and phenomenal reaction from our customers. The standout has been the night time shows with both families and teens rocking through under the stars until 11pm,” says Graham Burke co-chairman and co-CEO of VRL.
