APVMA fees to skyrocket
The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) is planning to increase fees as part of its cost recovery process.
The proposed increases are extensive. For example, Category 8 applications currently stand at $540 per submission. This fee is expected to increase to $1265 within the next four years and will continue to get higher. Annual registration payments are also expected to rise – going up from $390 per product last year, to just under $1000 per product by the middle of 2010.
Paul Simons of Lo-Chlor is actively lobbying the APVMA to voice his objections to the price increases, and encourages others with an interest in the price of pool chemicals to lodge and objection or comments to the APVMA before the deadline of February 20, 2009.
