Aquatic Leisure Technologies relocates to new purpose built facility in Perth
Aquatic Leisure Technologies (ALT), one of Australia’s largest manufacturers of fibreglass swimming pools, has relocated from Welshpool to a purpose built production facility in the commercial precinct surrounding Jandakot Airport in Perth.
In October 2014 the Welshpool facilities were damaged by fire. However, plans were already underway at that time to move to Jandakot.
As the parent company of well-known swimming pool brands Aqua Technics, Buccaneer Pools and Sapphire Pools, ALT also distributes to regional WA, the eastern states and has multiple overseas dealers.
“To continue to be relevant and competitive in manufacturing in Australia, we needed to build in efficiencies and economies of scale that were becoming increasingly difficult to achieve at our old site,” says executive director, Lynley Papineau.
“After three years in the planning and an impressive seven month build time, ALT began manufacturing in Jandakot in May 2015.”
“This is the fifth manufacturing facility in 39 years of production,” says managing director, Lew Beale. “It is not a cheap exercise to move your production and the new factory has the capacity to manufacture 3000 pools per annum in a single shift. The purpose built Jandakot facility will be able to service the business growth for many years to come.”
For the transportation of swimming pools, the Jandakot location provides close access to freeways north and south as well as highways running east and west. The business employs 170 staff and has 10 display centres in the Perth metropolitan area.
“We have a strong dealer network across regional Western Australia, New South Wales and Victoria,” says Beale. “We are looking to further expand our dealers across Australia by offering our extensive range of designs and patented PoolColourGuard technology to suitable businesses.”
ALT was established in 1976 and is still a family owned and operated business, with managing director Lew Beale joined by son Ben Beale and daughter Lynley Papineau as executive directors.
