Ensuring Compliance and Pool Safety with Waterlink

Waterlink recently engaged with Everybody Physiotherapy Penrith to ensure their hydrotherapy pool complied with the NSW State Health guidelines for commercial pools, as outlined on the NSW State Health website. During this process, it was discovered that the facility had installed a Rolla Chem RC9 unit, which unfortunately did not meet compliance standards for commercial settings.

Everybody Physiotherapy Penrith’s Hydrotherapy Pool Challenges

For Everybody Physiotherapy Penrith, maintaining their indoor hydrotherapy pool had become a burdensome task. The previous dosing system required constant manual intervention and frequently failed to maintain the appropriate chemical levels. There were ongoing issues with:

  • Inconsistent dosing: The system either overdosed the pool, turning the water cloudy, or under-dosed it, necessitating manual corrections and additional pool testing.

  • Combined chlorine spikes: Keeping the combined chlorine levels below 1ppm was challenging, often leading to water dumping and shocking, both of which are labour-intensive and frustrating.

These complications resulted in frequent chemical imbalances and compromised water quality, leading the business to seek a comprehensive solution.

Waterlink’s AOP System Upgrade: Transforming Pool Management

After extensive research, Everybody Physiotherapy contracted Waterlink to design and install a new digital dosing and Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) system, as well as overhaul the entire plant room. Over the past 12 months, Jacob and the Waterlink team have meticulously fine-tuned the system, and the results have been transformative:

  • Accurate and consistent dosing: The new system ensures precise dosing without the spikes or shortfalls that plagued the previous setup.

  • Real-time monitoring: The system provides real-time data on active chlorine, total chlorine, and pH levels, both at the unit and remotely through a phone app. Alerts are sent if the levels fall outside set limits, allowing staff to take action if needed.

  • Improved water quality: The AOP system has kept combined chlorine levels between 0.1 and 0.6ppm, well within regulatory guidelines. The water is also clearer and has significantly less chlorine odor.

  • Enhanced user experience: Long-term patients have noted that the water feels much gentler on their skin and hair, enhancing their overall experience.

Waterlink’s Comprehensive Plant Room Upgrade

To ensure optimal performance, Waterlink and All Pool Solutions upgraded the plant room by:

  1. Replacing the filter media: Commercial-grade glass was used in both filters, and the pipework was reconfigured to improve water flow.

  2. Installing a new Waterlink Odi Touch controller: This new system includes probes for pH, temperature, active chlorine, and total chlorine, offering complete control and monitoring capabilities.

  3. Introducing Waterlink’s remote monitoring system: The facility now enjoys peace of mind, with 24/7 monitoring available through a phone app.

  4. Adding a Waterlink LTS 2 system: This unit has further reduced the chlorine smell in the indoor pool hall while keeping combined chlorine levels within regulated limits.

A Game-Changer for Pool Management

Jenny Andrew, Physiotherapist and Business Owner at Everybody Physiotherapy Penrith, expressed her satisfaction with the upgrades, stating, “We cringe when we think back to how time-consuming the pool used to be. With the Waterlink system, we now have consistently accurate dosing, real-time monitoring, and a much more enjoyable experience for our patients.”

Waterlink’s AOP system has not only improved water quality but has also streamlined pool management, making it easier and more efficient for the team at Everybody Physiotherapy to maintain their facility to the highest standards.
