Focus Products new Eco pumps

March 27th, 2013

Focus Products are committed to the development of technology and equipment efficiency. The high performance range has cleverly been designed to meet the most demanding requirements. Ensuring quality materials and workmanship, this range has been developed to ensure state-of-the-art technology. All Noria® equipment come with extensive warranties backed by the service and support of Focus Products.

Quality, value and deducation is achieved through the “connected thinking” program which ensures the Focus Research & Development team constantly find new ways to do things better, to design better products and provide better service through staying connected with the industry.

Through the “connected thinking” program, Focus Products have developed two new energy efficient pumps, the Noria® DUO and ECO. These pumps are intelligently designed giving optimum energy efficiency and performance. The pumps are part of the Noria® range of high quality products that work in harmony to ensure the pool is easy to maintain and ready for use at any time.

The Noria® DUO is the first energy saving pump in the Noria® range. The pump utilises an AC two speed motor that has been specially designed for Focus specifically for the Australian & New Zealand swimming pool market. The two speed modes can be selected by simply pressing the stainless steel button on the top of the pump control box. The Boost

Mode (high speed) runs at 2800rpm consuming approximately 1400 watts (approx 1.5hp) and the ESP Mode runs at 1400rpm consuming approximately 280 watts.

Ideally the consumer should leave the pump running in ESP Mode (1400rpm) for all filtration, Chlorination and automatic pool cleaning. We have carried out extensive testing with different pool hydraulic designs and have found that in at least 90% of average size pools, the ESP mode is more than sufficient for running all filtration, Chlorination and automatic pool cleaning. When a media filter is used in conjunction with a Noria DUO pump the lower flow rate of water passing through the filter will allow the filter to work substantially better resulting in a cleaner, clearer swimming pool.

If a manual vacuum or backwash is required the consumer can select Boost Mode for a full 1.5hp of flow then switch it back to ESP mode to continue saving money.

Another advantage of using the ESP mode is that the noise level of the pump is dramatically reduced. In most cases this gives the consumer the advantage of being able to run their pool overnight when electricity can be much cheaper and chlorine is more effective without having neighbours complaining about excessive noise levels.

The consumer will have the ability to save up to $800 per year on electricity (compared to a standard 1.5hp pump running 8 hours per day on 2013 Energex QLD electricity rates) as well as be able to claim government rebates currently offered for energy saving swimming pool pumps.

The Noria ECO is the second energy saving pump in the Noria range. The pump utilises a true variable speed DC axial flux, brushless, permanent magnet motor that delivers high power efficiency at low noise levels. It has 3 programmable speeds that allow the pool owner to select the most efficient speed for filtration, vacuuming and backwashing. The user interface allows these 3 programmable speeds to be adjusted from the minimum of 1450rpm to the maximum of 2800rpm in increments of 50rpm. Unlike standard single speed pool pumps which can consume over 1500w per hour the ECO can use as little as 100w per hour depending on the flow rate the pool owner requires on their pool. The ECO pump utilises a wet end that has been made in Australia from durable thermoplastic, composite resin to withstand the harsh Australian climate. Whilst similar pump wet ends have been used in the Australian market for many years, the Noria ECO has had a number of structural improvements applied to it including:

• high strength clear lid with H profile O'ring for superior sealing

• one piece hair and lint pot for extra strength and less hydraulic noise

• heavy duty impeller with threaded metal insert

• heavy duty mechanical seal

Ideally the consumer or swimming pool technician should program the eco speed at the optimum filtration speed leaving the other two programmable speeds for automatic pool cleaning and backwashing. This will ensure the ECO pump saves the pool owner the maximum amount of electricity whilst still leaving the pool crystal clear. Another advantage of the ECO pump at low speed is that it is extremely quiet. This enables the ECO to be used during off peak electricity periods saving the pool owner even more money. Utilising night time off peak rates can increase the chlorine efficiency in the swimming pool making it a clearer, healthier environment for swimming.

The swimming pool owner will have the ability to save more than $800 per year on electricity (compared to a standard 1.5hp pump running 8 hours per day on 2013 Energex QLD electricity rates) as well as be able to claim government rebates currently offered for energy saving swimming pool pumps.
