International Quadratics Pty Ltd (IQ) has bought and will manage pool supplies company, AH Pierce.

AH Pierce is one of the oldest companies in the Australian swimming pool industry and this year will celebrate its 110th birthday. Established in 1898 by Albert Henry Pierce, the firm quickly established itself as a supplier of a wide variety of products to councils throughout NSW.

Albert Pierce died at an early age and his son Harold Pierce took over the company when he was only 18 years old and eventually encouraged the formation of what is now known as ARI (the Australian Recreation Institute). In recent years, AH Pierce Pty Ltd (trading as Pierce Pool Supplies) has been managed by the great grandchildren of Albert Pierce, namely Doug Pierce, Val Johnstone and Sean Ryan. Valerie, Sean and Doug’s mature adult children have interests in other directions, so the directors of AH Pierce decided to sell the business.

“The acquisition of Pierce Pool Supplies fits exactly with our long term growth strategy,” said David Lloyd, Managing Director of International Quadratics.

“For the past three years we have been significantly increasing our presence in this market segment through the supply of our granular chlorine dosing equipment and chemicals. Pierce Pool Supplies will give us the opportunity to further expand from this base. Commercial pool operators will now have easy access to advice and expertise on all aspects of water care. The current IQ staff has more than 100 years combined experience in chemicals and equipment.”
