Learn2Swim Week back on this spring
Learn2Swim Week is back again for 2021 during the week of September 25 to October 3, where Poolwerx and Kids Alive partner with Australia’s swim schools to offer free swimming lessons for children under five.
“Swimming is a way of life for most Australians, but sadly we’re still seeing backyard drownings. That is why it is crucial to introduce kids to water safety as early as possible,” says Poolwerx CEO John O’Brien.
“Nearly 2.7 million Australians live in a house with a swimming pool, and with people staying at home more over the last eighteen months we know that this number is rapidly increasing. That makes Learn2Swim Week an even more vital initiative, and one which we are proud to pioneer.”
Research from Poolwerx found more than 30 per cent of parents whose children participated in Learn2Swim Week in 2020 enrolled their children in ongoing swim classes afterwards.
“During last year’s campaign, we received nearly 3000 lesson requests from parents,” says Kids Alive founder, Laurie Lawrence.
“While this was a huge number it was down from the previous year – understandably due to the unusual circumstances we were all facing with covid-19. With Australians set to be holidaying at home for the time being, it’s important we get the support of pool schools across the country to make sure these crucial lessons are accessible for all.”
