Pool industry legend Jayne Orth retires due to ill health
Sadly, renowned pool and spa chemistry expert, Jayne Orth, is retiring from the pool and spa industry due to ill health.
Jayne has been an industry mainstay for three decades, and her advice has been widely sought. She is a highly respected trainer and educator, helping generations of Australian technicians perfect their water testing and treatment procedures. She has presented at SPLASH! expo among other venues.
She started in the industry in 1993. Her career commenced with the Guardex brand under what was Great Lakes Chemical Corporation at the time.
From 2000 she worked as a business development executive for Elite Chemicals, before moving to Focus Products as national technical and training manager in 2005.
For nearly a decade from 2010 she managed the Purex brand for Fluidra while also training retail technicians on the proper use of chemicals and equipment.
In 2019 she joined Lo-Chlor as a new business development manager, a role she held until her retirement in May 2023.
As many in the industry are aware, Jayne has been fighting cancer. She beat it three times in 12 months, but it has returned. The entire pool and spa industry is devastated by her prognosis and consequent retirement.
“This has been an incredible journey,” she says. “I have spent over 30 years in this industry and loved every minute.
“Take care of all the people you care about. If your job doesn’t bring you joy – change it. Life is too short!
“This was never a job. This was a passion and a love.”
There will be more on her amazing career in the next edition of SPLASH! magazine, but for now everyone at SPLASH! wishes her all the best.
