SPASA Australia forms alliance with US organisation APSP
The Swimming Pool & Spa Association of Australia (SPASA) has announced a collaborative affiliation with the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals (APSP).
Based in the USA, APSP is the world’s oldest and largest association representing a wide range of professionals within the pool and spa industry. It is dedicated to the growth and development of its members’ businesses and to promoting the enjoyment and safety of pools and spas.
Like-minded associations
CEO of SPASA Australia, Lindsay McGrath says SPASA is thrilled with the opportunity to pool resources with such an established body as the APSP.
"It’s an exciting time to be looking beyond our borders to collaborate with like-minded associations, to share skills and provide benefits and efficiencies to our members. Distance is not a significant barrier when we have similar strategic goals - to promote our industries which create happier and healthier people by swimming in more pools more often.”
McGrath says the APSP has a fantastic education base and decades of research, and there is the expectation of exchanges of learning in both directions.
"At the moment it’s early days but we are setting up regular meetings and potential study tours for later in the year. They will probably send a delegation over to SPLASH! next year, and we’ll probably send some people over to IPSPE in November this year as well," he says.
President and CEO of APSP, Rich Gottwald says they too are excited to partner with SPASA on a number of initiatives.
"With shared common goals to professionalise and protect the pool and hot tub industry, we are embarking on a new path toward collaboration that can strengthen both memberships and provide consistency for companies doing business in Australia, the US and the world.”
