John O'Brien appointed president of SPRAA

Following Gary Nye changing roles to SPASA Australia CEO, John O’Brien has been appointed president of SPRAA by the board.

O’Brien paid tribute to Nye’s presidency at SPRAA, saying he had worked long and hard for SPRAA and has also been an instigator in bringing together SPRAA and SPASA Australia.

O’Brien says he is honoured to have received the endorsement and support of SPRAA Board members and is looking forward to working with Nye in his new capacity as CEO of SPASA Australia.

O’Brien is the founder and CEO of Poolwerx Corporation, Australia's largest franchised pool retail and mobile servicing group.

He has advised the Federal Government on a variety of issues such as the issues facing franchising, and he has also chaired the Australian, Asia Pacific and the World Franchise Councils

He built the PoolWerx franchise model into a brand that has twice been named Australia’s Franchisor of the Year and has been ranked by Australia’s Business Review Weekly magazine (BRW) as one of Australia’s fastest growing franchises for the ninth consecutive year – one of only three brands to receive the honour.

He has more than over 20 years’ experience in the swimming pool aftermarket industry and was one of the founding members of SPRAA.
